How do I find my way around the site (including information for screen readers)?

To help find your way around this web site you will find a menu on the left hand side. By using this menu you can go to various sections and pages.

When you select a menu option a sub-menu may open underneath.

If you are using a screen reader the menu options appear as a list, the sub-menus appear as a nested, unordered list.

This site uses CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) to create a three column layout on the homepage and a two column layout for all other pages. Some pages on the site may use tables for data display.

How do I find information about products on the website?

To find information about assistive technology products for people with dementia click on the “Find a product” link in the main navigation bar.

Finding products

You can find products by clicking on a category and then selecting a sub-category or you can use the advanced search located at the bottom of the page.

Once you have a list of products you can select to view the product information by clicking on the product name, you can compare up to 3 products or you can add a review about a product that you have used.

Comparing products

To compare products select up to 3 products by clicking the check box and then click the ‘Compare’ button.  The website will display the 3 selected products in a table format which allows you to simultaneously view the products information.  If you want to view more detailed information about a product then click on the product title.

Reviewing products

To add a review you must first register with the website.  This is a very simple process and will only take a minute or so.  Once you have registered you can then log in and add reviews for products you have used.  Reviews are anonymous and none of your personal information will display on the website.  Please read the privacy statement for more information about the information we will hold and how it may be used.

What other information will I find on this website?

Although this website is primarily a resource for products, you can also read other assistive technology related information.  The information is clearly laid out in topics in the main navigation. 

If you have problems using the navigation you can use the website search to search for information.  For example if you want to find information about funding for assistive technology you can type ‘funding’ in the search box and then click the search button.  Please remember that you cannot search for products using the website search box.  To search for product information you must go to the ‘Find a product’ page.

You can also use the site map to help you find information on the site.  All of the main navigation, including the sub-navigation is displayed on the site map in a simple list format.

How do I change the text size in Internet Explorer?

You can adjust the text size by using the text sizing options located at the right of the top navigation bar on this website.

Some websites have 'hard-coded' the size of their text and as a consequence these websites will not reflect the change you have just made. If you would like your preferences to be reflected on other sites you visit please follow these steps:

  1. Select Tools (Alt+V) / Internet Options (O) on the main toolbar then select General and choose the Accessibility (Alt+E) button
  2. Check the box: Ignore font sizes specified in Web pages (Alt+Z)
  3. Choose OK (Press Enter twice)

  1. Select Tools (Alt+T) / Options (O) on the main toolbar then select the Content tab
  2. In the Fonts & Colours section select the font style and font size preferences
  3. Click the Advanced button deselect the Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selection above check box
  4. Click OK (Press Enter)

How do I change the text size in Opera ?

Opera can increase the size of images as well as text.

You can quickly increase or decrease the size of both text and graphics using the numberpad + and - keys.

  1. Select File > Preferences or press Alt+F.
  2. Select the Preferences option with the mouse or by pressing R.
  3. Select 'Page Style' from the list with the mouse or by using the down arrow key.
  4. Select the 'Default Zoom' of your choice with the mouse or by pressing Z and using the up and down arrows.
  5. Select the OK button with the mouse or by pressing Enter.

How do I update my web browser?

Most web pages are best viewed by using recent versions of Internet browsers. If you are using an older browser version, you may have trouble viewing certain web pages.

How do I change the colours used on the website?
